Being the beginning of season it’s time for the Lancing Kitesurfing Schools to offer their duties to the Club. This weekend I will be running the first of a few free safety sessions for the year. This is an opportunity for anyone who needs a refresher on how to manage a packdown (self rescue) at sea, along with the opportunity to have a chat about beach safety and anything else that is brought up in discussion.

So if you have a few spare hours on Saturday morning feel free to pop down and join me at 10.30 in the car park by my van (White VW T5) …

So we have just come just arrived back from an awesome week in Egypt – as always Soma Bay didn’t fail to disappoint …

With 6 days out of 7 producing 10m weather for the guys and girl … their progression just kept coming. The 4th day is aways the hardest with muscles and limbs telling you to stop and uncannily Soma delivered a rest day to enjoy the sun and have a few chats about equipment.

We had a couple of new faces this time round with Matt and Nick joining us. Matt possibly being the smiliest chap I’ve ever meet and Nick one of the most chilled. Pete seemed to think we had a Butler somewhere on the team where Yas struggled to keep her board stuck to the water. Marc had just run the Brighton Marathon the day before we leaved so I have to take my hat off to the chap for dealing with his aches, pain and blisters and showed a fine job of walking on water. Ash … was Ash there … he seemed like a different Ash … are yes now he’s flying around the turquoise water … Angry Ash has gone!

After every trip I always think that was my favourite yet but in truth … they are all good for their own reasons … So looking forward to the next one …

Lessons & Coaching with BN1 KItesurfing

I’ve been back 2 weeks and happy to witness the change of seasons. I have to admit we are probably a month behind on the weather front with chilling conditions spreading through April, but the South Westerlies are here … Friday evening I ran my first lesson of the year with Mr Hughes. A coaching lesson for both of us I believe … Mine being to remember to try your new drysuit on before going down the beach … My neck seal was so tight I thought I was going to pass out at sea … Not good! Fun session though and so good to be walking on water again. Nice One Rich! So with lessons happening through the weekend we can safely say we have started!

But …

This morning I’m writing from Egypt … Being April and the weather proving to be so in consistent I decided to put together a workshop pre season to encourage 6 keen riders to find there feet again. One will have a larger challenge than the other five as he just completed the Brighton marathon on Sunday … Sore and many other words can only describe!

So lets have a huge hand for the Kitesurfing season that has begun & do keep checking in to see how much fun we are having in the land of sand …

Well that went quickly … and I’m happy to say its been a smashing season with many fond memories of riding with great people. The not so good news is I think I might be turning into a skier … apparently that happens with age?!

In trueth ski equipment has developed so far these days that with the friendlier, wider rockered ski’s it doesn’t feel too different when your park & powder. So if you take into account the versatility of a ski you can be faced with a hard decision as to which weapon choice to leave the front door with … My pride is still telling me its something new and I’m keen to hang on to my roots, so my last few days will be spent on a board . The main thing is if it makes you smile … stick with it!

Uk Kitesurfing season is about to start even though I hear the weather is a bit desperate. Spring months are a month of change and each day can be different so unpack, dustoff the cobwebs and place that kit in the boot of your car as I’m sure good wind days are looming.

I return this coming week ready to unpack some 2013 toys from North, and very keen to get my feet back in the water so hopefully I’ll see some familiar faces down the beach …

Well … It’s been a never ending snow season so far and with the memories of last year its had a hard time to impress. Everyone always remembers a great season and the previous boasted to be the best in 10 years. We’ve had some great clients with the pleasure of Marcus last week from Planet Kitesurf who did a great job of learning to ski … Well done Buddy!

We’ve had some epic days over at secret spot with Pete, Mr Broom & Donz. Mike I do believe the Mr Jones is missing ya! So here to some more fresh lines and I’ll leave you with a few pics that speak louder than words …
